museum-thank-youThe Children’s Activity Committee put together a great event for September, “Art at the Museum.” The Committee coordinated the event with the Santa Barbara Museum of Art. The day started with a tour of the museum.  The museum guide, Lori, did an outstanding job engaging the children and helping them to appreciate  the exhibits.

After the tour, the committee provided lunch.  It was all the fuel they needed to work on their art projects.   A resident artist showed the children techniques for creating  3D art pieces.  They loved learning how to draw their profile and making an art piece out of it.   Even the toddler who attended was able to get her profile done.

One of the children, age 11, said that it was his first time ever in a museum. At first, he was hesitant, not sure what to do.  But, with the help of the docents and support of his CASA, he quickly warmed up.  He left with a big smile on his face.  All of the kids were very grateful for the event and appreciated the time that everyone spent putting together the event.
