Anna is six-years-old. She entered the foster care system before Christmas. She and her younger sisters came to the attention of CWS when neighbors reported them wandering the neighborhood, asking for food, and unsupervised. When Anna was removed from her home, the caseworker reported the children suffered severe neglect. Her parents have a history of domestic violence and drug abuse.
Anna has been absent from school several days last year and is not reading at first-grade level. She has also not received adequate medical care and has several cavities. A CASA volunteer is needed to talk to her teachers about her academic progress, make recommendations for medical treatments, and comfort Anna as she transitions into her new foster home, away from her sisters.
Will you be the one to speak up for Anna and children like her?
Volunteer training starts January 19. For more information about getting involved, email Crystal Moreno, Recruiting and Outreach Director at [email protected] or call (805) 739-9102 ext. 2594.
